The Problem

Conventional option trading methods are too complex and not intuitive, only used by professionals.

The Brief

Reimagine the way both seasoned traders and beginners browse and trade options, enabling them to discover and execute trades in seconds.

Design Process

The approach needed to ensure that beginners receive the guidance they need, while advanced users have access to more detailed data and tools.

After surveying stakeholders and potential users, I summarized each step of the process through the lens of basic requirements, as well as experts required points.

Early prototypes focused on goal driven entry points using simple language. However, continuous testing revealed a longing for a more all-in-one visual experience, leading to a shift in focus.

The break through came from observing users inutitively navigating the chart on the symbol view, particularly the time aspects.

We called the result Zone Trading, an entirely new way to browse option trades.

Challenges

I relied heavily on my clients expertise.

Options trading require many data points to make educated trading decisions. Every step of completing a trade needed some level of compromise to keep the cognitive overload in check.
